Episode 12 of the Amazing Race

The Realty TV Show Amazing Race starts out from the 10th Pit Stop in the race around the world.  Tammy & Victor were the first team to depart at 9:15PM.  Margie & Luke were the 2nd team to depart at 11:24 PM.  Jaime & Cara were the 3rd and last team to depart at 2:04 AM.

Teams must now fly over 5,000 miles to the island of Maui, Hawaii.  Once there, they will make their way to beach access 118, where they will find their next clue.  As it turns out, all teams made it on the same flight to Maui.

At the beach access 118, teams must prep a pig for a traditional “Luau” (an elaborate Hawaiian feast or party).  They must season it and carry it (145 pounds) for 200 yards along the beach to the Luau.  Finally, using an example for reference, they must properly cover the pig to be cooked, in order to receive their next clue.

Margie & Luke finished this task first, as they carried their pig on their shoulders, using the traditional pole that was provided for them.  The other teams carried their pigs waist high, and kept dropping it due to the enormous stress it put upon their hands and forearm muscles.

Teams must now make their way to a beach at McGreggor Point.  Once there, they will take a one mile ride on water crafts to a marked buoy field where they will have to search among 100 buoys to find their next clue.

Margie & Luke finished this water task in first place, and received their next clue.  Teams must travel along the highway by taxi until they find a fence of “surfboards” which is made of surfboards that will have their next clue waiting for them.

Margie & Luke were the first team to find the next clue, which was a Road Block.  In this Road Block, one person has to overcome 3 weeks of physical and mental fatigue and remember everything they have done on the race.  Teams must search through a pile of more than 300 vintage surfboards to find eleven of them that have pictures related to things they have encountered along the prior eleven legs of the race.  Most of the surfboards have incorrect pictures on them.  Once teams have found their surfboards, they must create a surfboard fence by standing the boards up in the correct order, according to their pictures.  When they have succeeded, they will receive their next clue of where to find the finish line, and the end to this Amazing Race.

After three continents, nine countries, and 40,000 miles, Tammy & Victor finished in first place and are the official winners of this Realty TV show Amazing Race.  They won the one million dollar prize.  Jaime & Cara were the second team to finish.  They were the only all female team that has ever made it this far in all of the Amazing Race seasons.  Margie & Luke finished in third place, and Luke said he is proof that a hearing impaired person can do anything if one is determined.

Episode 11 of Amazing Race

The Realty TV show of the Amazing Race starts out with Jaime and Cara, currently in first place, who must now take a taxi to find their next clue.  Margie and Luke were the 2nd team to get their next clue.  Tammy and Victor were the 3rd team, and Kisha and Jen, (Sisters), currently in last place.

Teams must now search the shops at the mall and find the Travelocity roaming Gnome for their next clue.  Tammy & Victor found the Gnome first and received their next clue.  Teams must now make their way to Gu Gong Xi Bei Jiao and find a popular Chinese mode of transportation, the electric bicycle.  They then must ride the electric bikes to Dongdan Station to find their next clue.

Detour:  Teams must choose between two local professions, Opera or Chinese waiter.  In Opera, teams make their way to the Beijng opera house where they are to make each other up as a Chinese gentleman and princess.  Then they present themselves to the master for their next clue.  In Chinese waiter, teams make their way to a restaurant and choose a table of hungry patrons.  The customers give their orders in their own language.  Teams must recite these orders back to the chef.  When they recite these orders correctly, in the same language as the patrons, the kitchen staff will prepare the dishes, and teams then serve them all before receiving their next clue.

Tammy and Victor moved up to first place, and chose to do waiter.  Margie & Luke decided to do the Opera.  Jaime & Cara chose Opera, as well as Kisha and Jen.  Victor and Tammy, who know the language, got the orders wrong and had to go back to the customers to get them again.  In Opera, Luke was having great difficulty painting his mom’s face.

Victor & Tammy were the first team to complete the Detour, and received their next clue.  It was the 2nd and final U-Turn found along the race course.  Teams have the opportunity to slow down another team, forcing them to back-track and perform the other side of the Detour.  They also will be held accountable by posting their picture so that the team that they slow down will know who did it to them.

Victor and Tammy were the first to arrive at the U-Turn, so they decided to U-Turn Kisha and Jen, because they did not want to go up against them again with their superior athletic abilities of running (not swimming).  Next clue was for teams to make their way to Dong Hua Men Yi Shi Market, where they will find their next clue.

Road Block:  A task where only one person may perform, which is eat a plate of creatures (grasshoppers, larva, scorpions, and star-fish) in order to receive their next clue.  Victor was the Team member who had to eat the plate, and complained the whole time while his sister cheered him on.  No other teams were with them, and Victor finished the plate way ahead of the other teams.  Their next clue directed them to Niao Chao, which is the Pit Stop for this leg of the race.

Tammy and Victor finished first, and are now number one out of three teams who will be racing for the one million dollar prize.  Margie and Luke were the 2nd team to arrive.  Jaime and Cara got up to Phil at the Pit Stop who said, “I’m sorry to tell you . . . you are going to have to keep racing because you are team number three.”  The girls cried out with joy.  There has never been an all female team to win the Amazing Race, so they now have a shot at it.  Kisha and Jen finished in last place and were eliminated.  Next week, this Realty TV show of the Amazing Race will be the Season Finale!

Episode 9 of Amazing Race 14

The Realty TV Show Amazing Race started out this week from the 8th Pit Stop, Margie & Luke were the first team to depart at 9:36AM.  Teams must now fly over 1,000 miles to Guilin, China.  When they land, teams are to travel by taxi to the street called Qing Xiu Lu and find a hair salon where they will find their next clue.

Mark & Michael were the last team to depart at 4:08 PM.  They will also have to perform a Speed Bump task for finishing in last place of this Pit Stop.  No other team will be performing this task.  They are about 4 hours behind everybody else.  They believe they just need to make some right decisions in order to stay in the game.

Jaime & Cara were the first team to arrive at the hair salon and receive their first clue.  Teams must now travel to the #24 bridge where they will find their next clue.

Road Block:  One team member has to take part in a fishing task.  Teams take a raft out to the middle of the river and have trained birds retrieve fish.  Once they catch 10 fish, the trainer will hand them their next clue.

In the Speed Bump, Mark & Michael must work as stylist at the salon, washing and drying the hair of two waiting women.  Whey they finish, they can continue on the race and hope to make up valuable lost time.

Kisha & Jen took over first place.  Teams must now race to a one thousand year old structure called Ancient South Gate.  There they will find their next clue.

Detour:  Choose between two tasks of Choreography or Calligraphy.  In Choreography, teams must participate in dancing.  They are to join a local group and learn their dance.  Then perform the dance together in front of a pair of judges, and upon perfectly performing the steps with the correct moves, will receive from the judge their next clue.

In Calligraphy, teams are to copy a series of Chinese characters which form the name of the part of their next station.  Whey they reach their fourth and final station, the artist will hand them their next clue.

Tammy & Victor, who are Chinese, were the first team to finish.  The clue was to travel to the next Pit Stop.  Teams must make their way to Banyan Lake and find the view that is depicted in the picture of their clue.  The lakeside spot is the pit stop of this leg of the race.

Kisha & Jen were Team number one, Tammy & Victor Team number two, and Margie & Luke Team number three.  All three of these Teams finished within seconds of each other.

Jaime & Cara performed the dancing task while the first 3 teams who finished did the Calligraphy task.  The dancing put them behind.  The judges kept saying no, but could not speak English and explain to them what was wrong.  They kept dancing, and eventually were given their next clue.  They were therefore the fourth team to check-in to the Pit Stop.

Mark & Michael also chose the dancing task.  But, they were in last place and finished last at the Pit Stop.  Phil then checked them in and informed the brothers that they have been eliminated from the race.  They were still both grateful to have been part of this race.  For this realty TV show of Amazing Race 14, will are therefore down to only four teams where the competition can get fierce.

Mistakes Are Costly!

The teams must travel by train to Munch, then fly over 700 miles to Bucharest, Romania.  Upon landing, they must take a taxi to a gymnast hall.  So Tammy & Victor were the first team to leave (they were the first team to arrive at the pit stop on the last show).  Then Mel & Mike left, and after them the Amanda & Kris team departed.

The first plane out with Tammy & Victor had mechanical problems, and had to come back to the airport.  So Tammy & Victor (brother & sister) ended up having other teams catch up to them.  Then fog stopped the later flights, which were postponed until the morning, which affected Brad & Victoria.

At the gym, the teams found a Road Block.  Only one member of the team would need to learn 3 separate moves in gymnastics:  Balancing, Parallel Bars, and some floor exercises.  Once they perform all the moves correctly, and in right order, they would get the next clue.

Amanda and Kris were the 1st team to finish (Amanda performed the Road Block).  They then received the next clue.  Teams needed to travel by train to Brasov, Transylvania, take a taxi to Biserica Neagra, known as the Black Church where they would find their next clue.

Margie and Luke were the 2nd team to finish the gymnastics (the mother did the excersizes).  Mel and Mike were the 3rd team to finish, with the son doing the task.  Then our winners from last week, Tammy & Victor dropped to 8th place after this task.

The teams were held at the train station until the first departure at 6:30AM.  Needless to say, they had a tough night resting on the hard benches!

Next was a Detour, where the teams needed to choose between two things:  Gypsy Moves or Vampire Remains.  In Gypsy Moves, teams would have to load all of the gypsy families belongings on to a cart.  Then navigate the cart to their camp and unload everything before receiving their next clue.  In Vampire Remains, teams would drag a heavy coffin down a hill to a clearing, unlock and untangle a series of chains, and open the coffin to reveal antique frames inside.  Next, they would smash the frames on to stakes, searching for a flag inside one of them.  Once found, they can exchange the flag in for their next clue.

Brad & Victoria were currently in last place due to delay in their flight.  But, we also see that Tammy & Victor choose the Vampire Remains task, and got lost on the trail finding the coffin.  Despite his sister’s request, Victor kept going in the wrong direction and following the wrong arrows.  Victor also refused to listen to Tammy, as he kept saying he was right and she was wrong about this.  After getting to the top of the mountain, Victor finally gave in and said “yes” to Tammy, we have to go back to the starting point.

Once these tasks are completed, teams need to make their way by taxi to a mountains cottage, Vila Panoramic.  The small inn was the pit stop for this leg of the race.

Amanda & Kris were in first place, until they lost their fanny pack at Gypsy camp and had to go back to find it.  They found it where they dropped off the Gypsy stuff.  This allowed Mel & Mike to finish as Team number one, and won a trip to Costa Rica.  Amanda & Kris finished 2nd, Kish & Jen 3rd, Margie and Luke 4th, Mark and Michael 5th, the blondes Christie and Jodi 6th (moving up from finishing 2nd to last place for the past 2 espisodes), Jaime & Cara 7th place, and Tammy & Victor 2nd to last place place (after winning last week’s show).  Brad & Victoria were the last team to arrive and were eliminated.

The Amazing Race: All-stars

One of the most popular couples in American television today would probably have to be Rob and Amber Mariano, not because they’ve become involved in some eyebrow-raising scandal, but because of their reappearance in two of the biggest reality competition series in the small screen today. Funnily enough, the two wouldn’t even have gotten together if not for their participation in the Survivor series. Rob had initially joined Survivor during its’ fourth season, while Amber competed during the show’s second season. They both failed to win the competition their first times around, but when they returned for another season on Surivor: All-Stars, Amber came out victorious with the help of Rob. Now, why would a highly-driven man from Boston help an equally competitive woman from Pennsylvania? The answer is simple: love.

Why Are Reality TV Shows so PopularYes, love will make anyone do crazy things, and as if it wasn’t enough to conquer the world of Survivor, the unstoppable Rob and Amber entered another stressful competition, The Amazing Race. They came into the competition not just as boyfriend-girlfriend, but as a fiance-fiance, and was strong, conniving and devious enough to finish the race in second place. Despite losing the prize money, they did win a number of prizes for arriving first at several pit stops.

When they were contacted by the show and asked to participate in The Amazing Race: All-Stars, Rob and Amber surprisingly were not sure if joining again would be a good idea. Ultimately though, they decided to take on the challenge for the second time, and although they proved to be a big threat again, they failed to come far in the race, having been the fourth couple to be eliminated. During the first three legs of the race, Rob and Amber were at the top of the pack, but quickly fell to the bottom when they experienced difficulty in building the signpost. More time was wasted when they were told they had misspelled one of the words on the signpost.

Being eliminated doesn’t mean the whole adventure wasn’t worth it for Rob and Amber. After all, the competition gave them the opportunity to travel to various places in South America, and what couple in their right mind would not consider that a great experience?
