Starting this week’s Realty TV show of the Amazing Race, we find from the 9th Pit Stop on the race around the world, that Kisha & Jen (Sisters) departed at 1:48 PM. Tammy & Victor (Siblings Lawyers) were the and team to depart at 1:49 PM. Margie & Luke (Mother/Son) were the 3rd team to depart at 1:50 PM. Jaime & Cara (Former NFL Cheerleaders) were the last team to depart at 2:12 PM.
Teams must now fly over 1,000 miles to the city of Beijing, China, home of the 2008 Summer Olympic games. Once there, they must make their way to a foot massage spa where they will find their next clue.
All four teams were on the same flight, but Tammy & Victor, who speak the language, were able to get seated the closest to the front of the plane (row 5) and told the people at the counter to seat their competition in the back of the plane. So Jaime & Cara were stuck in the last row of the plane, and were the last to get off. But these Cheerleaders were able to find a taxi cab driver that would drive very fast, and pass the other teams on the highway, plus knew exactly where to go. So this put them in first place as they received the first clue.
Road Block: One member of the team must take part in a traditional Chinese foot massage to heal the body. That person must first drink a special tea and then experience a foot massage that walks a thin line
between pleasure and pain. If the person can endure the massage for 10 minutes, they must drink another cup of tea to receive their next clue.
If they say “uncle” to stop the massage due to great pain, they must then start over. Jaime & Cara were the first team to start the foot massage, then Kisha & Jen, Tammy & Victor, and last were Margie & Luke. After crying over the painful foot massage, Cara finished first and the cheerleaders received their next clue.
Teams must now make their way to Guanggai, Natatorium, and find their next clue. As it turns out, Tammy & Victor are the first team to arrive
at the next clue. Knowing the language helped them find the right taxi cab driver who knew the way. Detour: Sink or Swim. In sink, teams try to master the skill of synchronized diving by jumping off 3 meter spring boards together, and hitting the water in perfect unison. When they perform a jump where they
hit the water simultaneously, and they receive a passing score of “5” from the judges, they will receive their next clue.
In Swim, teams must change into speedo suits and swim eight lengths of the pool in a 400 meter relay. Team members must alternate every 2 lengths and compete against Michael Phelps’ time in the 400 meter of 4:03.84. While teams do not have to beat his time, they must each complete 200 meters of the relay to receive their next clue.
Jaime & Cara decided to do the swim task first, which paid off for them as they were the first team to finish and receive their next clue. But Tammy & Victor could not complete the “Dive” so switched to the “Swim”
event which put them behind. Margie & Luke did the “Swim” task first, and both could swim very well, and were the 2nd team to receive their next clue.
Teams must now race across town by taxi to Drum Tower. This is the Pit Stop of this leg of the race.
The Sisters, Kisha & Jen, tried “Dive” and failed, then tried “Swim” and failed, then went back to “Dive” and failed again. Jen started to cry and told Kisha she just wanted to go home. Neither of the sisters were
swimmers. But Kisha talked Jen into finishing strong by going back to the “Swim”. Both Sisters put on Life Jackets and paddled across the pool like a couple of uncoordinated 4 year-old children! Needless to say,
they were the very last team to finish this “Detour.”
The former NFL cheerleaders, Jaime & Cara, were worried about whether their taxi cab driver knew the way to Drum Tower, as they have not had very good luck with drivers during this race. However, he did know where it was and they beat out Margie & Luke. The cheerleaders were the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop. Then Phil said, “Guys, this leg of the race is not over. You are still racing. Here is your next clue.” So this week’s Realty TV show of the Amazing Race ends with a “To Be Continued.”
